MASTERCLASSES
The masterclasses are interactive sessions and run in smaller, informal groups, using case studies and giving the delegates an understanding of how different technology and workspace thinking can be applied to their businesses.
Thursday 18th September, 2.00pm – 4.55pm
2.00pm Masterclass 1: Working without barriers: Rabobank’s new Utrecht project
Henn van Egmond, Rabobank and Rogier van Koetsveld, Veldhoen + Company present Rabobank’s new Utrecht project. Rabobank is changing the way it works. Staff are increasingly making their own decisions as to where, when and with whom work takes place and with which resources they can achieve the best results for their clients. Veldhoen + Company and Rabobank are shaping this process under the banner of Rabo Unplugged. Rabo Unplugged means: breaking away from unnecessary rules, from fixed locations and times, handling knowledge more effectively, greater cooperation and taking more personal responsibility. With a single focus: the client.2.45pm Coffee Break, Innovations Exhibition
3.05pm Masterclass 2: R & D Workspaces: Shell’s New Technology Centre
Shell is about to open its New Technology Centre in Amsterdam. This space will replace its old laboratories and has been designed to integrate facilities that foster and develop technical breakthroughs. It will include interaction space, collaboration forums, high and seamless IT provisions and of course research laboratories all under one roof. The redevelopment will also include residential, plaza and riverside facilities. A new neighborhood where you can work rest and play. The masterclass will look at the New Technology Center as a case study to see how spaces like this can drive breakthroughs, foster innovative environments and compel researchers to excel. It will also address the question whether integrating the laboratory with office space will increase productivity and can become the heart of a new town.3.50pm Coffee Break, Innovations Exhibition
4.10pm Masterclass 3: Hospital of the Future
New logistical concepts enable more efficient space utilization in hospitals. In the rapidly changing environment of the care sector, these new concepts become a necessity. Veldhoen + Company will show that activity-based concepts in hospitals lead to lower production costs. It requires vision to step from paved roads and take a completely different perspective. This new way of working in the Hospital of the 21st century is a solution for all hospitals and health facilities that have economic questions on housing and operations. The first showcase is being finalised in October 2008, when the first Hospital of the Future is opening its doors in the Netherlands.
