He is now driving the sales and the commercial strategies in the Southern Europe for Herman Miller. Mario is interested in developing relations with clients, dealers, A&D belonging to different cultures and countries because he believes that understanding the diversity in the world can be the key to achieve many good developments.

Mario likes running and swimming, but he loves figurative arts, movie and music.

Susana Saiz is a Senior Manager and Associate within the Sustainability & Energy Department at Ove Arup & Partners S.A. She is holds a PhD in architecture from the UPM in Madrid and a Master in Applied Sciences in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto. Susana is specialist in sustainable integrated design, nature based solutions, and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. She has wide experience in Environmental Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon metrics, teaching those subjects in different Spanish Universities within Master programs. Her project experience includes a wide number of national and international projects leading the integrated design process, coordinating Sustainability Certification processes such as LEED, WELL and BREEAM and the development of customized sustainability evaluation systems. Susana is LEED AP BD+C® , BREEAM Assessor, Green Rater in training, WELL AP and WELL Faculty.

Within his almost 20 years of professional experience Dr. Gonzalez del Regueral combines both work at world’s largest companies, his own business and a unique research in energy sector. Working for British Petroleum (BP) he led global operations transformation projects, developed innovation and digital strategies in the areas of human capital and SaaS implementation. Prior to BP, he worked at Iberdrola in its international expansion, post-merger integrations, and in regulatory strategy for the electricity and natural gas markets. With his own consulting practice Borja brought to the market and led to international expansion high-end brands in fashion, apparel and sports industries. His professional mission is to help companies instill a culture of disruptive innovation and educate a next generation of young professionals able to draw on innovation methodologies to be leaders in their chosen areas of work.

Dr. Gonzalez del Regueral holds a Ph.D. in Thermoeconomics from Polytechnic University of Madrid and was awarded the best PhD thesis by the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain. He also holds Masters degrees in the Electric Power Industry (Comillas Pontifical University) and Mining Engineering (Polytechnic University of Madrid) and an Executive MBA (IE Business School). His academic work has led to a patented novel energy generation process, a book on Exergy & Thermoeconomics and publications in several scientific journals.

Oliver is Founder of Heath Design Ltd, an architectural and interior design practice combining three key strands: sustainable design, consumer engagement and communications to inspire the uptake of future thinking in the built environment. He stimulates the adoption of happier, healthier places to live and work through his projects as designer, writer, and TV presenter.

Since 1998 he has presented on numerous television channels for shows such as BBC Changing Rooms and BBC DIY SOS, and Norways TV2 Tid For Hjim. He frequently acts as a media spokesperson for the UK’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), WRAP and the Energy Saving Trust.

Design clients include Unilever, Homebase, Bio Regional, ING Real Estate and Barratt Homes and the Geffrye Museum, as well as products for John Lewis, Pilkington Glass and Earthborn paints.

Oliver is the author of 3 books, most recently Urban Eco Chic (Quadrille), selling over 30,000 copies in 6 languages, as well as writing regularly for the Guardian, Grand Designs magazine, and House Beautiful.

Oliver is a qualified Domestic Energy and Green Deal Assessor and is passionate about sustainable design. His human centred Biophilic Design approach seeks to reduce stress by strengthening the human connection with nature to improve health and well-being in the many spaces we live and work in. Oliver is currently a Biophilic Design ambassador for Interface flooring.

His defining projects in this emergent field span from humanitarian design (Open Source Emergency Shelter) to urban systems (Social Computation for urban mobility, with MIT Senseable City Lab). Building on the experience matured at CRA during his 3 years as designer and project manager at the merger of design, spatial systems, and dynamic technology integration, Marco has worked with a number of start-up firms, delivering a full spectrum of customer experience, in order to identify their strengths, create a compelling story and maximize the value delivered to clients. Marco graduated from the highly selective Alta Scuola Politecnica, and served as an active leader for the Design Studio, Technology Studio and thematic workshops in Politecnico di Torino, where he is currently visiting researcher. In October 2016 he re-joined CRA as evangelist and business developer.

Martha Thorne

Executive Director of Pritzker Architecture Prize and Dean of IE School of Architecture and Design

Martha Thorne is Dean of IE School of Architecture and Design. Since 2005, she has served as the Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, popularly known as the “Nobel Prize for Architecture”. Her interests have always focused on international contemporary architecture, cities in evolution and changes in the role of the architect. Prior to joining IE University she was Associate Curator of the Department of Architecture at The Art Institute of Chicago. During her tenure at the museum, her responsibilities involved curating many exhibitions, developing publications, and participating in the ground-breaking study on collecting, archiving, and exhibiting digitally created design materials. She is the co-author of the books Masterpieces of Chicago Architecture and Skyscrapers: The New Millennium, editor and author for The Pritzker Architecture Prize: The First Twenty Years, and author of numerous articles for architectural journals and encyclopedias. Martha Thorne received a Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Affairs from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She undertook additional studies at the London School of Economics. She currently serves on an international jury for the award, ArcVision: Women and Architecture, a prize honouring outstanding women architects. She also lectures and assists with international architectural competitions.
