Geraldine Bear

Geraldine Bear

Head of Workplace for MCM Architecture, one of the largest UK interior architecture practices. Originally trained as a designer, Geraldine has worked with in house facilities teams and end user organisations but now focuses on leading project briefing for major fitout projects. During the last few years she has been a member of MCM team’s delivering new workplace projects for Ernst & Young, Deloitte and Addleshaw Goddard.

Janet Day

Janet Day

Janet has worked in legal IT virtually all her working life – even her MBA speciality was ‘Competitive Advantage in the Legal Profession’. After working in administration at A&O, Janet set up a specialist consultancy practice looking at technology services (in their widest sense) for legal firms. She joined BLP about 12 years ago – initially as a consultant but later as their IT Director with a wide range of responsibilities. She normally says ‘if it plugs into an electric socket and does not make coffee it belongs to me!’ She is responsible for technology in its broadest sense, including ecommerce activities, knowledge management services and the building and infrastructure. In 2005 Janet won the BCS award for IT Director of the Year. The team have won many awards including Computing magazine’s Best Places to work in IT in 2007. Janet won IT Director of the Year at the Lawyers awards in 2008.

Janet established The Adelaide Group a women in business networking group in 1997 - the first speaker and honorary President is Cherie Blair. The group now has over 800 members and holds regular events listening to high profile women speakers.

Janet is a member of the London First advisory board, and under their auspices also mentors a senior policeman. She is a governor of local preparatory school. She is the Regional Vice President of the International Legal Technology Association for the EMEA region.

Carol Frost

Carol Frost

Carol joined CMS Cameron McKenna in 2001 and became Head of Facilities in 2004. Since her appointment, Carol has set up the firm’s Procurement function and the Environmental arm of its very successful CSR programme. Carol has worked in the legal profession for many years leading operations and support teams. Since joining CMS Cameron McKenna, Carol has focused on real estate and has been at the forefront of global office relocations working with senior expert teams and providing the collaboration between these teams and business stakeholders. Carol is currently working with a Steering Committee in the quest to find a solution to move from the 20 years occupied London office to a sustainable flexible space for the future.

CMS Cameron McKenna LLP is a founding member, and the UK headquartered firm, of CMS. CMS operates in 27 jurisdictions, with 53 offices in Western and Central Europe and beyond. CMS was established in 1999 and today comprises nine CMS firms, employing over 2,400 lawyers.

Martin Gaskin

Martin Gaskin

As Chief Financial Officer, Martin is a member of the firm's Executive Leadership Team and works with the Managing Partner and Senior Partner on all aspects of the firm's strategic direction and day to day management of the business, with particular responsibility for the financial aspects of the operations.

Martin, a Chartered Accountant and MBA, joined Addleshaw Goddard in 2002 after over 15 years' experience in practice and with Unilever and HBOS plc.

Jason Haines

Jason Haines

Jason is the CIO of Allen and Overy LLP, with responsibility for IT worldwide. Previously, Jason was the Global Chief Technology Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Jason has over 20 years of experience in IT and management. Before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jason was responsible for applications software at Andersen and was the partner in charge of the Advanced Technology Consulting practice in London.

David Hamilton

David is now the IT director for Davies Arnold Cooper having retired from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in 2009, where he had led their IT since founding the department in 1988.

Judith Hardy

Judith Hardy

Judith Hardy is Addleshaw Goddard's Director of Human Resources and a member for the firm's Executive Leadership Team. Her main areas of responsibility include HR strategy and culture change, performance enhancement, reward strategies and talent management programmes. Judith joined the firm in 2002. her professional background includes wide ranging and international exposure within blue chip knowledge-based organisations. She is a Fellow of the CIPD and a Fellow of the RSA.

Katrina Kostic-Samen

Katrina Kostic Samen

Katrina Kostic Samen has over two decades of experience in the design of commercial developments and the workplace environment and is uniquely qualified to provide clients with design consultancy and strategic advice on ‘inside-out’ architectural design solutions. Katrina is considered a leading authority in development specification and occupier strategy, in particular for legal and financial clients.

Her multi-cultural background has stood her in good stead during her work with numerous blue-chip clients, traversing the legal, financial and corporate sectors throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East. Her experience allows her to offer a comprehensive interpretation of industry trends, practice area intelligence and market knowledge.

Jackie McLaughin

Jackie McLaughlin

Jackie McLaughlin is the Director of Facilities Europe for DLA Piper. She has worked in Facilities in professional partnerships since 1991, spending 10 years at KPMG before joining DLA Piper in 2001. She is responsible for the delivery of the wide range of business support and ad hoc project activities which typically fall under the Facilities remit (and some that don't). Jackie has a particular interest in how businesses choose and use property. Her dissertation topic for her MBA in 2008 was the extent to which organisations align their property strategies (if any!) to their corporate business strategies and objectives.

Nigel Miller

Nigel Miller

Nigel was appointed Managing Director of Cordless Consultants in 2005 and has over 25 years experience working within the IT industry, having held positions at several IT corporations including Burroughs, Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC), Unisys and HP.

His early experience ranged from electronic engineering on mainframe computer systems moving into specialised ‘environmental’ investigative work (Earthing, RFI, EMI, etc.), which led to becoming a founder member of Digital’s Data Centre and Network Design and Project Management division. More recently Nigel was involved in business management and emerging software technologies at HP.

In 2001 Nigel accepted a Director position at a large UK engineering consultancy, where he established and built the IT and Communications Consultancy Division responsible for delivering major IT infrastructure projects.

During his time at Cordless Nigel has developed the business to provide a unique range of capabilities including Workplace Technology Consultancy, Infrastructure Design & Project Management covering converged Data, Voice and Audio Visual Solutions, plus specialist areas including Data Centre strategy, Converged Building Management Solutions and Business Efficiency Improvement.

Mark Smith

Mike Smith

Mark has particular expertise in occupational property transactions, notably HQ relocations, investment acquisitions and disposals, and major sale and leaseback portfolios. Mark sits on the firm's management committee and played an integral part in Speechly's move to Land Securities' New Street Square scheme in 2008. Mark also specialises in advising clients in the healthcare market. He joined Speechly Bircham in 1989 and was made a partner in 1998. Mark is an active member of CoreNet Global and the Federation of Corporate Real Estate.
